We have some exciting plans for our basement this year! As you may remember we recently insulated our basement to ensure our building was efficient and warm for our programs.
The next step of our basement upgrades is installing a washer/dryer unit to assist our volunteers and staff in ensuring all clothing donations are clean for all our thrift store visitors.
To complete this work, regular Drop-in hours will be cancelled on Wednesday January the 24th and 25th. We will be providing by appointment door service on these days to collect food, have a hot beverage, access the free shelf or get a referral.
PLEASE NOTE: The Thrift Store will be close during these times as there will be work happening in the basement.
If you would like to make an appointment for door service, please emailing anna@nelsonwomenscentre.com or call 250-352-9916. Appointments can be made for 10 to 20 minute intervals. Please arrive on time for your appointment as to not impact other program participants.
Winter Solstice Celebration
It’s time for our annual winter celebration at the Women’s Centre. There will be finger food, sparkling juice and hot drinks, music, and a specially curated gift shop! Come celebrate our wonderful community on the winter solstice and find a gift for a loved one or simply a treat for yourself.

Service User Round Table
Calling all our amazing service users!
This new monthly opportunity is for sharing thoughts, opinions or questions in a safe and welcoming circle. The circle will be co-facilitated by our Programs Manager Anna and a Board Member. Meetings will be hosted at the Women’s Centre with tea and coffee available to all participants. Anna may have the capacity to provide solutions to some matters at the meeting, while others matters will be passed on to our Executive Director and the Coordinating Collective.

Construction at the Centre
We have an exciting announcement! The basement of our house is being insulated by @ellenwood_homes next week, august 28 to September 7th.
As a result there will be modified drop-in service available. The basement and free store will be closed and there will be contractors on site. We will still be offering all other services including food, computers, counselling, referrals, coffee and more.
